A native of Utah, Tyler Horsley has gardened in New York for over 20 years. In 1990 he became a member of the 6th Street and Avenue B Community Garden in the East Village, where he built a stage that is still in use, and served as the garden's vice president and member of its Board of Directors. He has subsequently worked on balconies, backyards and rooftops throughout the city and into its suburbs.
Tyler holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Virginia and a Certificate in Horticulture from the Brooklyn Botanic garden. He is a registered architect in the state of New York.
After many years specializing in the design of stores and showrooms for the apparel industry, he decided in 2005 to focus on his first love and specialize in garden design. In that year Tyler Horsley Garden Design, LLC was founded.
